What this tool does
The QR Code Generator turns a web address or any short text into a QR code that phones can scan. Type or paste your content, click generate, and a code appears with a download button for a PNG image.
The codes it makes are static: the content is encoded directly into the pattern, so the code keeps working as long as the content (for example a web page) does. There is no account, no tracking and no expiry.
How to make a QR code
- Paste a link such as https://example.com, or type your text, into the box.
- Click Generate QR Code.
- Click Download to save the image as qr.png.
- Scan it with a phone before you print or publish it.
Tips for better results
- Use the full address including https:// so phones recognise it as a link.
- Shorter content makes a simpler code that is easier to scan. Very long text creates a dense pattern.
- Keep strong contrast (dark code on a light background) and leave a blank margin around it.
- Always test-scan the finished code from the size and distance people will use.
Privacy: what happens to your data
This tool runs in your browser, so the content you enter stays on your device and is not sent to Tantool's servers. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture.
The code is built with the open-source qrcodejs library, loaded from the cdnjs content delivery network when you first use the tool.
Remember that a QR code is not encrypted. Anyone who scans it can read what is inside, so do not encode passwords or private information.
Limitations to know about
- The downloaded image is 256 × 256 pixels with medium error correction. That suits screens and small prints; for posters or large signs, use a tool that exports vector files.
- There are no colour, logo or frame options.
- Codes are static, so you cannot change the destination later or see scan statistics.
Frequently asked questions
Do QR codes made here expire?
No. A static code never expires. It works as long as the link or text it holds is still valid.
Can I use the codes commercially?
Yes. The images you create belong to you; see the Terms.
Why won't my code scan?
Check contrast, leave a blank border, avoid very long content, and make sure the image is large enough when printed.
