What this tool does
The Password Generator creates a random password from the character groups you choose: uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers and symbols. You set the length from 8 to 64, click once, and copy the result.
Passwords are built with your browser's cryptographically secure random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues), not the weaker everyday random function. If you select several groups, the password always contains at least one character from each of them.
How to create a password
- Move the Password Length slider. Aim for at least 16.
- Tick the groups you want: uppercase, lowercase, numbers, symbols.
- Click Generate Password.
- Click Copy and save it straight into a password manager.
How strong is it? With all four groups selected, each character is drawn from a pool of 88 symbols, which is about 6.5 bits of randomness per character. A 16-character password is therefore roughly 100 bits strong, far beyond what guessing attacks can reach.
Tips for better results
- Length matters more than complexity. Use 16 characters or more for important accounts.
- Use a different password for every account, and store them in a reputable password manager.
- Turn on two-factor authentication wherever it is offered.
- If a site rejects certain symbols, untick Symbols and increase the length instead.
Privacy: what happens to your data
This tool runs in your browser, so the content you enter stays on your device and is not sent to Tantool's servers. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture.
The password is created on your device. It is not logged, stored or transmitted by Tantool, which also means we cannot recover it. Copy it before you leave the page.
Limitations to know about
- The strength indicator under the result is a quick rule-of-thumb check, not a full security audit.
- The tool does not save passwords. You must store them yourself.
- Symbols come from a fixed set (!@#$%^&*()_+-=[]{}|;:,.<>?); you cannot customise it.
Frequently asked questions
Is this password generator safe to use?
The password is generated locally with your browser's secure random generator and is never sent to us. As with any tool, use a trusted device and a private browser window on shared computers.
How long should my password be?
At least 16 characters for important accounts. Longer is better, and a password manager makes long random passwords easy.
Why not just use a memorable phrase?
Passphrases of several random words can be strong too, but a generated password stored in a password manager removes the need to remember anything.
